KoolAid värjäyksiä

Viime viikonloppuna innostuin värjäämään 100% villalankaa. Koolaideilla värjäys on sikäli helppoa, että kun inspiraatio iskee niin sen voi aloittaa heti ja saa tuloksiakin sangen nopeasti.

Värjään KoolAideilla joko niin, että kaadan pussin sisällön lämpimään veteen ja heitän vyyhdin perään. Parin tunnin sisällä väri on imeytynyt lankaan. Sen jälkeen huuhtelen ja linkoan vyyhdin pesukoneessa. Tai sitten otan muutaman Pilttipurkin ja sekoitan jokaisen värin erikseen ja maalaan siveltimellä lankoja. Langat ovat jo valmiiksi muovikelmun päällä ja käärin paketit jonkinlaiselle rullalle ja annan olla seuraavaan päivään. Voilà, väri on imeytynyt ja huuhtelussa ei lähde väriä enää ollenkaan.

DYEING WITH KOOLAID

Last weekend I dyed 100% wool yarn. Dyeing with KoolAids is very simple and you can do it whenever you get the inspiration. You also will get the results quicker than dyeing with plants.

I dye with Koolaid in two ways.

1. I fill a bucket with warm tapwater. Then I pour in the Koolaid and then I put my skein in. After two hours the skein has absorbed the dye. The water in the bucket is almost clear. I rinse the skein and usually the colour stays. I don't boil the yarn or use any vinegar.

2. If I want to make some stripes. I mix the colours in glassjars and paint the yarns with a brush. Then I cover the yarn with plasticfolie and roll it. I let them be for a day. Voilà, when I rinse the skeins the water will be clear. Again I don't need any vinegar or boiling.

In the photo of four skeins. The three skein on the right are dyed with KoolAid. The fourth skein is dyed with Emotuotanto's liquid textilecolours ( Only available in Finland ).

And on the other photo is a ball of Koolaid dyed yarn. Very nice isn't it?
